It all started about a year ago while I was feeding some feral cats at my apartment complex. There were about six of them, but two of them were trying to be friendly even though they would scamper away when ever I tried to touch them. They would come to the patio door and look through the window with a curious stare as to see what was going on inside. They would press their noses and try to reach with their paws. One was obviously the mother cat as the little one would nurse on her. They looked alike in color which was orange and white...most of the white was on the chest and the paws were white.

Time went on and little by little the other cats disappeared but these two stayed around until one day I heard a terrible fight between two cats, which was the mother cat and an old black and white cat who was chewing her to pieces. That was when I scared them off. The reason most of the others had disappeared was because the apartment complex was catching them, and I had no idea where they were being taken. Anyway, about a week later, the little one who is now a year old was on the patio, and very hungry. I only had some cooked chicken so I cut some up and put it out for her/him (didn't know what gender at that time). The food disappeared so fast!

This went on for another day, then I decided I had better get back to buying some cat food. I still hadn't seen the mother cat. Anyway, when I went out with the cat food this kitten rubbed up against me and I knew it wanted to make friends with me. Well, being an animal lover and also a cat lover, I decided to see if it would attempt to come into the apartment, so I left the door open a bit, and I could not believe my eyes....it walked right in, but then went out. This went on for two days. Finally, I closed the door and it was captured.  Wow!

Now this meant that I needed to get a litter box and some toys, so it was off to the store. I had no idea what to expect when I got home but was amazed that the cat was so content. Having found that it was a boy I knew that I would have to get to a vet to have its shots and have it neutered. Well, this took a week as I had to devise a way to get him to the vets. I Called my son who has a pet carrier and I put his food in it to get him comfortable with the area.  When the day came for the visit to the vets, I closed the door and off we went.

I named him Lucky because he's one lucky cat to have found a warm and comfortable home with lots of loving care.  He did get out once by pushing a screen out (my dumb fault because I opened the window too high) I was frantic, and this was after having him neutered. Then I thought perhaps he's just outside telling all his friends, if he can find any of them, that he's well taken care of and happy to have found a home.  No more spending winters outside, no more getting rained on, no more cat brawls. Believe-me when I say that he is very affectionate and follows me everywhere I go.  Right now he's at my feet, just wishing I would play with him some more. It will take him some time before he gets used to people other than myself.  Patience is the answer.
