The Cowardly Lion |
The Cowardly Lion was created by Lyman Frank Baum and
featured in his book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900).
The lion was a coward, and afraid of his own shadow. He was
the last of the companions Dorothy befriended on her way to the Emerald City
with the Scarecrow and Tin Man. He went to see if the Wizard could give him
courage; and battled the Wicked Witch to win the right to drink courage from
the Wizard's green bottle.
