This famous lion mascot has been seen at the beginning of every MGM feature film since July 31, 1928. The lion logo was created in 1916 for the Goldwyn Pictures Corporation by advertising executive, Howard Dietz. In 1924, when Goldwyn merged with Metro and Louis B. Mayer, the lion logo became the new trademark of the company. A number of different lions have portrayed Leo over the years including - Slats, Jackie and Tanner.
