Cats Across Continents

South America

South America covers 12% of the world's land surface. The lowland areas to the north are dominated by the  Amazon basin, drained by the Amazon River. Covering an area of six million sq. miles most of the Amazon basin is covered by rain forest. Along the western side of the continent, and running almost its complete length is the Andean Range of mountains containing many of the highest peaks in the world.
