Felines have often been used as characters in literature, movies and in other forms of the media and advertising. Here is a listing of some of the many fictional cats:-

Varjak Paw: SF Said's Mesopotamian Blue, kung fu cat!
Zoom:  Tim Wynne-Jones' series of children's books, "Zoom at Sea".
Simpkin: Beatrix Potter's The Tailor of Gloucester.
The Shy Little Kitten: Children's book written by Cathleen Schurr and illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren.
Ribby: In Beatrix Potter's The Pie and the Patty Pan.
Powder: An albino Siamese from the children's series Powder The Cat.
Pixel: A cat in Robert A. Heinlein's novel "To Sail Beyond the Sunset", also appearing briefly in some of Heinlein's other stories.

Vampire Cat: An ancient Japanese folktale, "The Vampire Cat of Nabéshima".

Dick Whittington's Cat: There are more than one version of this traditional story,  telling of how Dick, a boy from a poor family, walks to London accompanied by his cat to seek his fortune.

Puss in Boots: European folktale originally by Giambattista Basile, and later by Charles Perrault in his Mother Goose Tales.
Patripatan: South-East Asian Indian mythological cat, who climbed into the sky to speak to the gods.
Virtual Cats: Neko, Spike, Gold Cat, Hello Kitty, Kamikaze Kat, Lion King. Can be downloaded, to inhabit your computer screen.
Aslan: The lion in C. S. Lewis'  The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Also featured in other Narnia stories.
The Black Cat: Featured in the short story, A study of the psychology of guilt by Edgar Allan Poe.
Aineko: Robotic talking cat in the Accelerando a novel and also a series of science-fiction short stories by Charles Stross.
Bagheera: Panther found in The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. 
The Cat in the Hat: The Cat and the Hat, 1957  was the very first book by Dr. Seuss. It tells a tale about a cat who performs all sorts of amusing tricks to entertain two children on a rainy day while their mother is out.
Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats: Collection of poems by T.S.Eliot about cats.
The Cat Who...: Lillian Jackson Braun's mystery novels, featuring the detective James Qwilleran and his two Siamese cats Koko and Yum-yum.
