I wasn't patient enough for the usual harness training
techniques,
(put the harness near the cat for a few days, put it on him before
dinner, let him wear it around the house for a week, put the leash on
for 3 days, etc.) so I just put the harness on him and took him
outside. Buddy was so mesmerized by the sounds and smells outdoors
that he barely seemed to notice the harness or the leash. Until,
that is, he spotted a squirrel in need of a slow death. He shot me
that really-annoyed-cat look when I wouldn't run after the animal
with him, not that I could ever match his speed.
After I took him back to the apartment there was a little howling at
the door for more. Now that I know he enjoys our little walks, I'll
take him out on nice days, but I don't think he's a candidate for
city sidewalks.
