Brigitte Bardot was born on September 28, 1934 in Paris, France.
In 1952, she appeared on screen for the first time as Javotte Lemoine in Le Trou
Normand. She went on to become internationally famous, staring in many
movies over the next few years.
After being taken advantage of by some people because of her
generosity, and being constantly hounded by the Paparazzi, at 39, Brigitte
retired from movies after filming IL Sorriso Del Grande Tentatore. She
went on to become a leading spokesperson for animal rights and started the
"Foundation Brigitte Bardot" in St Tropez. In the following year she
sold her jewellery and other personal possessions to raise funds for her welfare
work. She loves cats, and provides shelter for over 60 stray
cats in her own home.
